Societies worldwide have been changing at the most rapid pace ever in human history. Technology, communications, and the environment are also transforming ever faster, and more than ever, the challenge of educating the next generation is instrumental in meeting the planets growing needs. In order to rise to the challenge, educational systems worldwide are planning and structuring in order to enhance their development and improvement, so people are prepared to meet the needs of a peaceful and creative world.
In this context, faculties worldwide suggest that environmental sustainability and entrepreneurial skills need to be integrated in teaching and learning, which motivate learners with value-added experiences with proven results. Students, including the youngest, should be exposed to alternative activities in order to be prepared with the tools for discovering themselves, their talents and the means of putting them to work to achieve personal success.
As a result, this course will bring together different definitions of environmental sustainability and environmental entrepreneurship. The content, structure and methodology of different environmental programes, the challenges of environmental entrepreneurial learning and the opportunities they create.
The main role of education is to create ethical and democratic adults, and teachers will be trained with innovative approaches in environmental sustainability and entrepreneurship. Additionally, by experiencing environmental education and entrepreneurship, students develop their entrepreneurial skills along with their environmental responsibilities, while developing their sense of environmental values and agency. They will also practice and improve skills like critical and ethical thinking as well as action, decision making, team building, creativity, communication, presentation, problem solving, self-respect and self-control. Environmental education and entrepreneurship also includes the development of sustainable environmental thinking with an added bonus that embraces the society and cultural heritage which is such an integral part of our rich European history and environment.
